Happy 4th of July!!!

I LOVE fireworks, I hate to buy them I hate to shoot them but I love to go sit under the stars and watch the elaborate shows put together and paid for by someone else. J hates these, the crowds are the worst, the traffic, the people... you get the idea. So this year I was amazed when I begged to go he just said ok we'll leave at 6! So we drove to Kadena we parked, hopped on a bus and rode to the celebration. There were planes on display to walk through (a total highlight for me!) carnival games (the reason Kane is crying in every picture, Nemo was just too hard to catch and the carni's wouldn't give in to his wimpers) a concert, and the highly anticipated fireworks show. We found a good place to sit, it was on the concrete flight line, so no cuddling in the soft grass :( but that was a good thing I guess as that meant less bug bites for the already grumpy Kane-y bug. The firework display was pretty disapointing, I think if we would've got on our buildings roof we could've seen them and not have to deal with the crowd or the wait for the bus, which was total chaos. They barely lasted 10 min dare I say and the first 5 min were reminiscent of my early childhood when we did our own fireworks. They were poorly timed and shot off one at a time, they did have some cute things like hearts and smiley faces! The finale was similar to most shows warm ups. I guess I can't complain, they did try really hard to make an awesome festival. I was just expecting a little more from base, I mean Camp Lejeune's were AWESOME, Fort Leonard Wood's were pretty good too. I was disappointed but Katara was AMAZED! She loved them she would point and clap and squeal, it made it all worth it to see her. Korbin was more interested in eating his "ninja turtle" snow cone and Kane was too busy crying about his "blue coconut" snow cone being too cold to care about what was happening in the sky.It was great, yeah Kane was a little grumpy, ok a lot grumpy, Korbin was terrified we'd miss the bus and have to sleep with the airplanes but it was a great time.

Oh yeah and if you click "our video" to the left you can see Katara being all cute about the fireworks!

I love love love fireworks too! I have tried very hard to get Noah excited by them also...and it worked! He laughed and laughed.

I am so glad you had a great celebration with your family. I love "hearing" about everything that is going on.

Oh...by the way, I saw Dawn last weekend with her new baby girl! Beautiful. So...her boy Roan is a little older than Noah, and my Titus is older than her newest little one! I am glad I am finally catching up with my youth group kids. ha.

Love you!
