Thought of Kane

Sometimes you read a comic strip and instantly you think of someone you know, this happens a lot especially with Baby Blues, Maramaduke and Calvin and Hobbes. I just had to share this one today. At gymnastics for the last 2 weeks Kane has gotten in trouble, week before last he was being a tiger this past week he was being a dinosaur stalking around the mats with his t-rex arms growing at all the girls in class, he had to go to parent time out. JB was with him, but he didn't get in trouble because the girls get him going but they don't get in trouble, wonder what kind of animal he will be next week?

Like Father Like Son

During Family Fun Week Justin took both out on a "date" to round 1. Round 1 has 7 floors of fun, mechanical bull, darts, bowling, roller skating, arcade games and such. So on the Tuesday Kane & Justin went, he came home so excited to be the first to do something, especially something that Korbin hadn't done yet. On the Thursday Justin took Korbin, he was big enough to ride the mechanical bull, I think his highlight was playing darts (he got 2 bulls eyes!)

The day Justin and Korbin went he wanted to dress like his dad, so he did even down to the shoes!

Belt Testing

The other day Kane and Korbin tested for their new belts and they both got it, Korbin is now a green stripe Little Dragon and Kane is a yellow strip Little Dragon. Both Katara and I deserve some sort of stripe for sitting through a years worth of classes two times a week!

An Update Especially For Daddy

Every time J goes somewhere we always do a goodbye picture, usually these are horrible as it is usually right before bed and everybody is a little grumpy, this time we actually got to see him off, so this picture was taken as we were about to go out the door. Then of course we had Family Fun Friday since he was gone, the kids chose pizza, which is no surprise, we watched a few episodes of Dirty Jobs from our new Collection 4 and drank our orange soda floats. Then there is Korbin AKA super hero man, if you can see he even hooked his Noah key chain to his sunglasses to look like a super hero ear ring... I wasn't aware that Super Hero's had their ears pierced but apparently they do! And then lets not forget today, Kane gave Katara a bath. Lets just say she was a mess, he got the soap wet and then rubbed it all over her, they both needed a bath after that. I don't know who was prouder Kane for helping or Katara for getting another bath.

update

It is now almost the first of March! I can't believe that we have been here exactly a year and a half. Time has flown, time has stood still. On those days when I think about how slow the time is going I look back at the pictures of our first day here and my list of things I want to do here before we leave. This week we will say goodbye to a friend here, goodbyes always make me sad, especially since we actually stay in contact with so few of these people. Some of these people have came into our lives and became family, those are the ones we miss the most. It is especially hard on the kids, there are days when both boys, especially Korbin ask if any of our FLW guys will come to visit. Sometimes he makes pictures of him playing with the guys and aseks if they have forgotten him. I hope we never become immune to the farewells of these special people.

Katara is having a language explosion, Kane is listening so much better and controlling his emotions better as well, and Korbin is learning so much, he is reading well and writing sentences. A lot of you will find these things out for yourself when we come back to MO in April...yep plane tickets are purchased and we will be home! We are excited and dreading this trip for obvious reasons, but it will be great to see everybody!

Happy Birthday Kane!!

Kane's birthday party was yesterday, I can't believe he is now. He has changed so much, yet he is still the same. He is one of the most easy going kids, but he also has developed his own ideas of how things should go. He is pretty tough too, he is relentless when wrestling, at times even wearing out some of the guys! He loves coffee and Diet Coke so much in fact that if I leave my cup laying around he will steal it. He has been known to suck down over half of a Venti Iced White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks in as little time as it takes for me to run and get a napkin. He loves ribs from Chili's and cheese pizza (dipped in ranch dressing of course!) His favorite color is blue. He loves the movie Finding Nemo and is convinced that Gill's name is Gilbert and refuses to accept that he may be wrong. He hates shoes and socks and wants to wear his orange "alligators" everywhere. He is convinced that if he has a cut or a bruise if he sits in the bathtub that it will heal up right that minute.

This past year he has conquered biting his nails, has never had an accident in bed, and learned to write his name. He still hates library story time and classroom crafts.

This year he had a hard time choosing a birthday theme, I was pushing for monster's but he couldn't decided between an ocean theme or dinosaurs. After what seemed like hours debating at the computer checking out party favors and decorations he chose dinosaurs. I asked him what kind of food he wanted and he said chocolate cake and bread. I made a chocolate cake and he picked the "Aunt Reva" icing with the almond flavoring (Aunt Lillie, Korbin and Justin agree with you on that subject!) then we got on the computer to look at dinosaur cakes and he chose one that he wanted me to make...my attempt didn't produce and exact replica of the cake but it was decent. He thought it was beautiful so that is all that matters. He really wanted a dinosaur battle scene on the cake with blood but I didn't really like that idea so we ended up just tipping a few over to make them dead!
