This past week we went up to Okuma for 3 days, we stayed in a cabin and it was a blast! We started out doing a glass bottom boat ride, we didn't see any Nemo's but did see a few Dorie's, a sea turtle and a sea snake among many other things. Justin got sea sick again this time so he said he is pretty much done with the boat rides, guess I'll be whale watching by myself this year... The next day we went to Neo Park, an excellent place, think huge petting zoo. Kane loved feeding the birds, he loved how they would chase him around and he wasn't the least bit scared of the ones that were taller than him, he had them literally eating out of the palm of his hand. Korbin on the other had was a little more cautious but he warmed up and had some fun feeding them. They also had a "farm" area that had puppies, rabbits, cats, a lama, a pig or two and some other animals to pet and fed. I don't know how many times Kane said "what is that smell" but he had fun.
After we left there we went to the Butterfly place, I was super excited about that but was soon disappointed. There was only one kind of butterfly a white and black one and it took about 30 to do the whole thing. I put red shirts on the kids b/c Okinawa Hai said to so they would fly to you but that didn't work so well there wasn't a lot of butterflies and they liked the flowers better than our red shirts. After the butterfly place we went to look for Pizza in the Sky, a place I thought would be great for Daddy to eat since Pizza is his favorite, we found it and it was closed, and let me say finding it was not so easy we went up alleys, over sand bagged roads and around a lot of twists and turns that were barely wide enough for the van.
We went to Tropical Fruit Land next, I wasn't really sure what that place had to offer but the lady at the ticket place assured me that it would be great for families and loads of fun, yeah it pretty much stunk, think green house full of poisonous spiders hanging from ridiculously low branches that this gianormous gal had to avoid. So that was a bust, however I did get to see how dragon fruit, papaya, limes, pineapple, sugar kane, and start fruit grow. They said on the loud speaker we could pick our own fruit but we didn't know if it was ripe or not so we just left to go to The Pineapple Place.
Oh my, the pineapple place was free sample HEAVEN. We got there hungry and left full, especially Kane would not only take 1 sample but a hand full at each station. The highlight for me was of course the fresh pineapple and the pineapple chocolate, there were 2 evil cookies there one that was made of hot peppers and one made with fish stock so these innocent little cookies burnt my mouth and left me almost in tears from the fish flavor. Luckily I found pineapple coconut short breads dipped in white chocolate to re-assure my pallet that all was well in the cookie world. We left that place about 10 lbs heavier and about 3300 yen shorter than we went in but my snacks we purchased were well worth the money! After a stop on the way home to take pictures of a creepy Col. Sanders we headed back to the cabin to rest.
Thursday was our stay at Okuma day, we road a "family" bicycle which was a blast, we played putt putt golf, at ate the restaurant, Justin took the boys fishing (when my camera got broken) and then to the beach. The water was like bath water and Katara LOVED it like always, Korbin cried but had fun (like always) Kane like it and got sand in every place imaginable (like always)
We had a great time and I really can't even put to words the amount of fun we had.

Baby Katara is turning into a toddler! what's up with the shortage of butterflies? I loved the butterfly house in St. Louis. And fish and cookies just don't mix for me either. Glad you had some awesome family time.
Hey, the pictures are great. What is that critter that looks like a huge guinea pig? I am curious. I second Clair's thoughts on the Butterfly House in St. Louis (Chesterfield). You should try to go someday when you are home.
