So I finally "got" my Valentine's Day present, Justin got us tickets to go whale watching. It was incredible, I LOVED it. Our boat was 38' long and had twin 550 detroit diesel engines (that's for you dad) we went out 30 miles into the ocean and at times were in 200' of water maybe more, he just said that one time. We saw at least 10 whales and 2 jumped up out of the water for us and a pair of them turned on their sides and "waved" at us. One even came out of the water and "yelled" at us. I never got sick but poor Justin did, on the way back we were going super fast and it was SUPER wavy it was kinda like being on an up and down roller coaster for over an hour. The water was so blue, it was amazing. It is hard to explain how huge these whales are,one time there was one under the boat! They were so close to us, some were maybe 10 yards from the boat! Our captain had been doing this for 13 years so he knew where to go, the other boats actually would follow us! There were about 7 or 8 people on the boat with us, so it wasn't completely full. The guy told us that the whales don't eat while they are here for the winter and usually end up loosing around 7 TONS while they are here, he also said their mouths are big enough for a a voltswagon but they can only swallow things about the size of a fist. They are so graceful but so giant. It is hard to fathom a fish bigger then you're car. He said before he's had them come right up and kinda look in the boat and he also said that he's had babies, which are about the sizes of cars doing the "back stroke" around the boat. We didn't get to see any of that but man did they put on a show for us. Captureing pictures of it was kinda hard b/c it would happen so fast, but I think my mighty camera man did a great job!
What did the kids do while we were gone? A girl Justin works with came to watch them. As I type Justin is taking her home and Kane is sitting in the chair screaming for "babysitter". THey made crafts, at breakfast and lunch and played and watched movies, so don't worry the boys had fun too.
** I added a player with all the video we took, so it's like you all went whale watching too! Don't forget you're bucket to puke in!!

That is awesome! I'm jealous. That is so great that you are getting out and enjoying what Japan has to offer. (I am such a homebody-- but then there's not much to see, ha! Actually I really should see what Nashville has to offer- yeehaw.) Anyway, when I was little I wanted to be a dolphin trainer- so I would have loved this whale watching...though I don't know if I'd get sea sick or not (probably cause I get carsick.) Anyway, cool trip. Thanks for sharing.
Ok, that boat does not look very big to be around whales in! I think I would be petrified!!! I'm glad that you had fun though-the ocean totally scares me! I did see whales from the shore one time though-that's probably close enough for me. :-)

oh wow. that is awesome. i would totally need an iv of dramamine, but I'd do it! I agree that the boat seemed a little too tiny, but I guess that gave you a good view. I'm sure I'd be scared, but how cool.
I've been to nashville once Clair. We went for a walk at the Capital building on their lawn. It was pretty. They had this big globe that was solid rock and the water ran and made it turn. I collect globes so that was neat for me. Wow, I'm a nerd.
i have a leslie sansone video. I like it. makes me feel like I am doing something, but doesn't confuse me!!! hehe. those other dancey videos just lose this lady. I like pilates too, but they are harder than they look. I like all the stretching in them. I'm with you..I don't care to be 'skinny' just want to feel good.
oh that was a great valentine's day present! I think Daniel feels the same way you do...we didn't do anything special for the day, but the next day he brought me candy (because it was on sale!). HA. I appreciate that more, actually!
I agree, the boat is looking a little too small, but I would have been out there loving it. So glad you are blogging now!
